This is something USG has been working on over the past few years. In the school’s 5 year plan they’re planning to construct a parking garage that would bring around 700 new spots. This is a project will take multiple years to complete and the recent price increases are going towards the construction of this parking garage. Feel free to comment below with anymore questions or concerns, come in to our Senate meetings, or come to our office hours!
    Sincerely USG!

This issue has now become urgent with the City of Golden's new parking restrictions going in effect. We need a stop gap measure ASAP. Can't wait for the parking garage to be built

in addition there are ALWAYS open spots in faculty/staff lots, which indicates inefficiency. While I do thing faculty/staff deserve to have more convenience, this does not include having 1/2 the lot vacant.

The school’s administration believed that not enough students were taking language classes. The LAIS department decided to stop the language program and to use the budget to improve current liberal arts classes and create new ones. The most common option now is to take language classes at Red Rocks community college and transfer earned credits to Mines.

    Sincerely,
    USG

Red Rocks CC may be a good alternative

It seems that the gym was designed for a student population half of what it is today. It has become worse with the addition of new squat racks and removal of the incline bench and flat bench. There is some extraneous equipment that could be done away with, but the real solution would be to move the aerobic equipment (bikes, treadmills, etc) to a dedicated space so that there is adequate room in the gym. We pay to much for this service to have inadequate facilities.

it seems that the solution to this problem was to remove one incline bench and one flat bench... seems like we've gone backwards!

    UPDATE:
USG recently met with the registrar’s office. They are continuing to address this concern in new ways besides the survey. If you disagree or agree please let us know down in the comments or by visiting USG office hours.

    Love,
    USG

After the joint focus group between USG, students, and the registrar, we have come up with some solutions:
    1) The registrar is developing a survey that will be sent to all students who come into the office for assistance in order to get feedback on whether they completed their job effectively and to the satisfaction of students.
    2) The registrar has had two vacant positions recently, putting them slightly behind in processing.  Both of these positions should be filled by the end of the month so that they can better address students’ needs.

This is an ongoing process so please continue to leave comments…

while i concur with this general statement, I think it would be helpful to note that my interactions with the student workers has been reasonable, there is a specific person, whom I prefer not to mention in a public forum who is the Assistant Registrar who may be better suited to a job that does not involve student interaction

I believe this topic deserves a second look considering how busy the space is. I have seen a number of people leave without working out because it is too busy. There is clearly not enough equipment for the student population.

    UPDATE:

This issue has been resolved. USG treached out to facilities and a work order 92753 was made and accomplished.

    Love
    USG

The USG Sophomore Class sent out a survey about exam rooms and we received very valuable feedback on testing rooms. Berthoud 241 is one of the locations that need improvements and the Sophomore Class completely agrees with you. We are currently talking to the Registrar about changing/improving the exam rooms used in common hour exams.
    Thank you for you time!

    Sincerely,
    USG

They are also annoying during lectures and presentations. I'd love to see some real desks/tables in there eventually, but for now can we get a little WD-40?

This has been an ongoing project over the years. Currently our sophomore class is continuing it. If you have any specific questions about the progress you can email the president or representatives, every officer is listed on our website at http://mines.orgsync.com/org/usg/officers

    UPDATE
USG reached out to Brown to initiate this change but found it was not realistic. Apparently a lot of malicious actions were done in Brown when students had access. Even recently doors have been destroyed. Also, citing the lack of cameras in Brown, administration is not willing to accept this suggestion.

Why is it wrong that Mining students get access to the Mining Dept building?
