Parking at Mines
I think that the changes made to parking at Mines have royally disordered the already broken parking system. Making the lowest CTLM lot a commuter was one of the most ridiculous things parking services could have done. I pay close to $100 dollars more for a General Permit and it gives me the ability to park 20 foot closer than a lucky commuter? And thats only on a good day when I can even find a place to park ANYWHERE. Now they tried to make things right by adding a general lot by the ROTC building by Q lot. Sweet now only if it wasn't ~20 spots and literally no where near any of the educational buildings. Everyone knows parking is broken at Mines and it isn't getting any better with City of Golden's new rules for parking. I know for a fact more commuter and general permits were sold and there were not enough parking spots added to accommodate the extra vehicles. I would love for USG to 1. change the lowest CTLM lot back to a general lot and 2. make a push to better parking at mines.

This is something USG has been working on over the past few years. In the school’s 5 year plan they’re planning to construct a parking garage that would bring around 700 new spots. This is a project will take multiple years to complete and the recent price increases are going towards the construction of this parking garage. Feel free to comment below with anymore questions or concerns, come in to our Senate meetings, or come to our office hours!
Sincerely USG!

There are not enough spots for everyone who bought a commuter pass. This is unacceptable. I get to school 30min earlier than previous years and can never find a spot. I have been forced to pay $95 in parking tickets so far because I need to get to class.

Remember that semester when Mines oversold parking passes and it also just so happened to be the first semester that Golden implemented 2 hour parking to clear spots for the tourists that hammer the streets M-F and walk from Mines down to golden? What a coincidence.

This issue has now become urgent with the City of Golden's new parking restrictions going in effect. We need a stop gap measure ASAP. Can't wait for the parking garage to be built

With a commuter parking pass, I have to get here by 7 AM for a good spot. Fine by me as an early bird, but to see so few spots for ANYONE is ridiculous. Commuter passes are nearly 100 dollars as well, and if we have to pay to park for a school we already pay boatloads for, we should have a better parking situation that doesn't require people to get to school up to 2 hours (a minimum for me) before their first class.

It's ridiculous how I can show up 30min early for class with a General parking permit and spend 45 min looking for a space. Mines has enough money to put up a brand new Coors building to look shiny next to Marquez, but a parking structure is out of the question? Mines needs to get it's priorities straight.

in addition there are ALWAYS open spots in faculty/staff lots, which indicates inefficiency. While I do thing faculty/staff deserve to have more convenience, this does not include having 1/2 the lot vacant.
