Facilities has gotten back to me and said the sound level will be addressed soon if not already.

Thanks for your beef Elior! I 100% agree with your assessment of the seating area. I've emailed Gary Bowersock from facilities to resolve this. I'll keep you updated!

I apologize for just now putting this here. Aidan and Mel a while back were able to work out a deal with facilities to provide free period products at select locations on a trial basis with both sides hoping to expand this program in the future. If you would like more specific details on the program please contact Aidan Lewis. His email can be found on our website: usg.mines.edu

Thank you for your beef Marley! I can assure you and the rest of the student body that USG has been working tirelessly on this issue. This year, we have unanimously voted to approve a period products resolution that calls for facilities to provide menstrual products. It isn't the signed copy, but I have attached the resolution. Two of our senators, Aidan and Mel spearheaded this initiative and are in talks with facilities to bring this to life. If you or any other student wishes to reach out to them to further voice your concerns, you can find their emails on our website usg.mines.edu

Thanks for your beef CJ! Our student representative to the board of the trustees, Conall, is currently working on imposing a fee that would work to bolster the current resources Mines offers. He is in the planning stages and would love to hear your concerns more either through email or his office hours. You can find both at our website: usg.mines.edu

Thank you for your beef Ethan. Everyone on USG has been wanting the same thing all year. Unfortunately, the employment shortage has hit Sedexo too. So, they had to close certain food locations and all the others are understaffed. On the bright side, Sedexo has hired a hiring agent exclusively for the mines campus plus USG is working with RTD and the City of Golden to make Mines more accessible via public transportation. Additionally, students may work for Sedexo. You can apply at: https://us.sodexo.com/careers
    Thanks again Ethan.

The Undergraduate Student Government does not hold the opinion that the majority of students would prefer remote learning over snow days. However, many professors are more than willing to work with students when such situations present themself.

Thank you for your beef Lauren! Our junior class president, Cody Wylie, is currently taking on this issue. He is in talks with Chief Olson to find a plan. A possible solution involves the installment of ctv cameras around campus. If you wish to further the conversation, please reach out to Cody. His email can be found on our website: usg.mines.edu

Hey Jamie! Thanks for your beef! This is definitely a huge issue on campus. The seniors and Aidan Lewis have stepped up to address this issue on campus. If you would like to discuss this issue further with them, you can find their emails on our website: usg.mines.edu

Thanks for your beef Amanda. It is the goal of Mines administration to hold classes in person. I have seen many professors have options not staying behind and completing work even when not physically present. I'd like to encourage all students to not attend class while sick and reach out to professors when they can't attend class so they don't get behind.

Thanks for your beef Connor. I would like to encourage you to push your professors to establish this within their own classrooms. With classes being in person, it is hard to mandate a remote option due to the academic freedoms professors have.

Thank you for your beef Maya,

The rec center is funded by fees and not tuition. Since only fee paying students have access to services payed for fees, non fee paying students do not have access to use the rec center.

Thanks for your beef Tara. The departments are the only ones who are able to propose curriculum changes. So, I'd like to encourage you to reach out to Junko Munakatamarr, the civil and environmental engineering department head. You can email her at jmmarr@mines.edu.

Thank your for your input and I definitely understand your frustration. As a civil, I can definitely see how the department is civil focused. Unfortunately USG is going through transitions right now from the recent elections. I have brought it to Sydney's attention (our current at large to the faculty). She'll put this in her transition documents and the next at large to the faculty, Ethan, will be able to address this.

The covid testing only takes up A lot. There are other commuter lots on campus that are closer than A lot. These lots are not full either. The general lots and commuter lots are designated at different price points due to their distance from campus.

I talked to Rob Thompson, who is in charge of the rec center, and he said that the rec center is operating the best it can when under the constraints of the state and local governments. Jefferson County is now at level orange, which means that the capacity will be up to 25%, but the reservation system will be remaining in effect. Also, the rec center stopped selling faculty staff passes to maximize the amount of students that can use the gym. Additionally, there is the alternative of the remote workout classes hosted by the rec center.

With thanksgiving break being this week, we will not be having senate. However, I can assure you that I have received your comment and will present it at our next senate on Tuesday, December 1st at 6:30 pm. I highly encourage you to attend and directly voice your comment. You can find the link on our website: usg.mines.edu

A few of our senators had issues that were directly what you referenced in your comment (8+ hours and multiple in a weekend). So with the negative experiences stemming from our senators, faculty chose to make a policy against take home exams.

Our senate meetings, including those in which administration attended, are open to the public. They are Tuesday evenings at 6:30pm. With thanksgiving break being this week, we will not be having senate this week, but will resume next week. You can find the zoom link on our website: usg.mines.edu

The pass/fail option was made available to students last semester due to the unforeseen change in class delivery that was made. This semester, it was made apparent when registering that classes would be hybrid, remote, or online. So, it was decided before the start of the semester that pass/fail would not be an option.

With all that being said, USG is well aware of the petition and has discussed it at senate. Many senators are very much in favor. Yet due to the withdraw deadline being passed, there is doubt that pass/fail will become an option. However, I would like to encourage you and all other interested people to attend our next senate which will be next Tuesday at 6:30pm (December 1st). I have forwarded your complaint to the food committee. They convene in two weeks and I will respond here again once I hear back.
If you would like to personally voice your opinion to Undergraduate Student Government, you can attend our senate on Tuesdays at 6:30 pm or attend the office hours of one of our senators. You can find links to both of those on our website: usg.mines.edu
