Thank you for pointing out these issues to us! We have begun contacting administration to address the lack of accessibility and to see what they are doing to fix automatic doors that are not working. Would a focus group to identify the specific needs and areas lacking be of interest to you? That may be a next step to identify areas on campus lacking in accessibility. Please contact us at minesusg@gmail.com if you would be interested in taking part in this discussion!

Mines should feel welcoming to those with disabilities and give them the LEGALLY REQUIRED accessability features. However, this is not the case. From broken door-opening buttons to elevators that are broken for days on end to the lack of wheelchair ramps, Mines has made it very challenging for those with disabilities to get to class and and is very unwelcoming. I fear for the safety of those with disabilities when they are forced to go down ice-covered stairs on crutches or can’t open a door without risking further injury. Mines CAN and SHOULD DO BETTER. This is not a topic of debate. This is the law required by the Americans With Disabilities Act. Do better Mines.
