    You have left! (?) (thinking…)
How important is this to you?

While we completely understand your concern, the Rec Center fee is for the greater good of the school. Not only does your fee grant you access into the SRC, but it also allows you to participate in intramurals (for free) and helps keep the Rec Center operational. Physical activity is vital to a healthy atmosphere here at Mines and the Rec Center fee contributes to that. Thanks for your concerns.

    Best wishes-USG!

This is a cop out response on the part of USG. I, a fellow Junior here, have set foot the the rec center 6 times to this date. All for career fair. I have never participated in IM sports and do not believe that my money should be going to fund these activities. Additionally, the fee is $193.80 which is about $50 per month (assuming 4 month semesters), more expensive than a generic gym membership of $30 (cite: 24-hour fitness). That's $193 ON TOP of my tuition that I am paying for 'physical activities' of which I have used 0 times over my 3 years here. That's $1158 over the course of 6 semesters that I'm throwing away because you can't make these fees optional. Thanks, A Concerned Mines Student.
