Below are all the details associated with this issue:

On Thursday, January 15th, Undergraduate Student Government had our first meeting of the semester. The main topic of the evening was Mines Market. With the opening of Mines Market and closure of Slate Café, there were changes in the hours of Digger Den. Mines Market is now open late at night while Digger Den’s hours were cut back. Also the previous to go option where students were allowed to grab anything Slate was offering that day was replaced with a to go sandwich with two sides. This has caused a lot of upset with the campus. As a result, USG asked a few staff members involved in this decision making process to come and speak about why this decision was made and take input on how things could be improved. Digger Den should have later hours because it's located in closer proximity to more students because of the location of dorms on campus. Digger Den has more options for meal exchange use for those with a meal plan that eat late at night, and Mines Market does not compare in the amount of Meal Exchange items or snacks available during operating hours. Digger Den made my meal plan worth it because I'd spend all 10 in a week's time, but I've cut use of meal exchanges nearly in half because Mine's Market has very limited meal exchange options and I've already had my fill of food by the time I have to use the exchanges. Either the Meal Plan options need to be changed, Mines Market needs to change or improve their meal exchange snack options, or the hours Digger Den operates should be adjusted to accommodate late night snackers or late night eaters that have classes until 6:50pm.
