    You have left! (?) (thinking…)
How important is this to you?

Thank you for your beef Ethan! This has quickly become an important issue among students. I have contacted the recreation center to address the cleanliness and safety issues with the gym. Regarding being overcrowded, administration is taking steps to curve the issue with Spruce and Jackson having gyms. Additionally there are future plans to create more indoor recreation space open to all students.

Coming from a former rec employee, they have a cleaning crew come in twice a week I think. I could be wrong but there’s some liability/work distribution thing and student employees are not supposed to work custodial or food service jobs on campus so I don’t think this is something that student SRC employees can control
Also the downstairs gym is frequently scheduled for team practices, games and events and when I worked there they didn’t share a calendar of events. There is open gym time that is scheduled, but students would often leave behind equipment and stuff making it an issue for athletics so not sure if they do that anymore. I get that it seems like the staff doesn’t do anything but they’re trained and paid as a desk position, same as any other student employee on campus.
