The career center should get feedback from students about who they interviewed with/if offers were retracted
I think that the career center should send out optional surveys to students about who they interviewed with, what the process was like, etc. I believe there are some companies who get invited to career fair who should stop being invited or at least be discussed due to how they deal with students interviewing.
One year I interviewed with 6 companies from career fair, only ever heard back from 2. Not even a "Thank you for interviewing" email and no response to the emails I sent them. The 4 I didn't hear back from all were interviews on mines campus.
One year I got offered an internship through a company through the mines career fair. I was going to be their only intern. They retracted the internship offer yet they were still invited to career fair (only internships, no full times). They should not be allowed back.
This year (as a graduating senior) I had 3 full time offers retracted by oil and gas companies. Absolutely ridiculous as the career fair will never know they did this.
I had one company who said they would let me know back in 3 weeks. 6 weeks later they keep postponing their decision. (They were one of the ones who retracted the offer).
There were also several companies who marked that they were hiring graduating seniors. But upon going to their booth, this was not true. Very annoying and a waste of time for everybody involved when they lie on the career booklets.
In my opinion the career fair needs to hold companies liable. If companies retract offers they shouldn't be allowed back. I feel like the career center does not realize how often companies don't follow up with students or do so in a negative manor.

The best option to further handle this is to make an appointment with the student center and to tell them about your experiences with these companies. They do a form of feedback from the students who got interviewed but they don’t share the information with all students. If you have already voiced this to the career center with no effect, please come into your classes USG office hours, downstairs in the student center.
Sincerely,
USG
