BSO needs to be way more clear on their rules and guidelines
It's really hard to navigate being a treasurer with BSO's rules being so strict with little indication of what they actually are. There are some rules that are outlined in the allocations form (which is not due until March, so some new treasurers may not look at it until then) that are not stated anywhere else on BSO's Engage page, including the Prezi for treasurer training and the powerpoint from in-person training. Examples of this include that you can't buy tee shirts with BSO money, you're only allowed to spend 25% on food, and there's a vague piece on the prezi about how some points can go to the next period, some can affect future spending but some don't, and that the points will be posted on Engage. The powerpoint outlines some of the things that carry over, but nowhere is it stated how to look up how many points you have. There is also no information on what you can/cannot do with foundation account money, or how to access those accounts other than depositing money to it.
If I didn't have someone from a previous semester telling me what some of the rules are, I would have absolutely no reason to know them, but my club and I would be severely penalized for violating them. Even now there are some things I don't know, but every time I have asked BSO staff questions I have been met with condescension and/or conflicting answers. I really want to comply with BSO guidelines, but I don't have the resources to do so.
