Summer use of the SRC
In the same vein as the lack of field session financial aid and RTD passes, access to the student rec center is revoked in the summer months for everyone except those in official mines summer classes. I understand that we technically aren't paying the exorbitant gym fee during the summer, but we pay so much for the gym during the year two more months that don't even include private classes shouldn't hurt. The gym staff is already being paid to be there and the gym is hardly at capacity. This is especially relevant for summer employees, many of whom live on campus and all of whom provide valuable services that Mines could not operate without. Student employees need safe, healthy ways to relax after long shifts and we cannot pay constantly for gym passes when we are working to save our small paychecks to pay for field session, transportation, and tuition. The whole situation is another slap in the face from a school that claims to promote student health and wellness.

Hi, everyone pays a fee to use the Gym in every semester, whether student, alumni, staff, or any affiliation with Mines. For students, this is included in your tuition. If you do not take classes over the summer, you do not pay tuition, and therefore do not pay the fee. Which is why you have to pay for it separately. Have a great day!
