Move the Piano in Brown
I understand that this issue has already been brought up, but I feel the need to voice the opinions of not only myself, but a host of other students who study in brown. The large area for study is meant for studying. It's more than just a small distraction, I am currently on the second floor of brown and I can still hear the piano.
I understand that playing the piano may be a great de-stress activity for many students, and that's great. But doing it loudly right in front of students who are studying for difficult exams, writing reports, and completing lengthy homework assignments is more than just a my opinion, it's plain rude.
To be honest, headphones do not provide a solution. Quiet study areas are hard to come by, especially ones that are close to your upcoming classes. A study area is a not a concert hall, but a study area. If someone were to set up speakers and loudly play their music in the study area, would we allow it? (much less encourage it by giving them a speaker?)
For the sake of all my fellow students who are trying to study, I will continue to firmly but politely ask piano players to stop until this issue is resolved.
Studying at mines doesn't need to be any harder than it already is.
