    Campus,

First of all, USG would like to apologize for all of the confusion and our error over the elections. It was determined after elections closed that the ticket that held David and Stephanie’s name was actually ineligible. USG made the mistake by putting them on the ballot; we knew the election packet was turned in late, but we did not realize it was a blatant violation of our bylaws. If we would have known this prior, their names would not have appeared on the ballot. Due to this mistake, and the fact that the ineligible candidates won the election, we are reopening the elections for the Student Body President and Vice President positions.

This election is open to any students who are interested in the positions of Student Body President and Vice President. A new timeline has been created, and is as follows.

April 16th: Election packets available for…

    James and Karen,

While your points hold water in pure jurisprudence, they will surely ostracize you in the court of public opinion. I beseech you both to reconsider your actions. Continue to represent the voice of the Mines student to the community, faculty, and institution without having the title. You are sure to garner more respect and credibility with that than you could ever hope to get being known as the duo that wandered into office behind a wall of (clearly) unsupported litigation.

UPDATE: A couple of the reps brought this up at parking committee. Turns out you are allowed to park on the street and put your hazards on and they will give you a fifteen minute grace period to come back by then without giving you a ticket.
    _______________
    Hello!
One of our classes is emailing parking services this week to ask about this as a possibility.

    Hey!

After many conversations with the Director of the Health Center and Student Life, it has been decided that keeping the Health Center open on the weekends is not feasible. Trading the high level of care and great services students receive during the year for staying open extra days is not an option.

Fortunately, the new Urgent Care Center on Heritage and 6th has quick, friendly service and has reasonable co-pays. It is an ideal option as it is close and open 24/7.

    Love,
    USG

UPDATE: Have you seen the cows on campus?Hopefully!! We are continuously trying to find ways to publicize this forum. Word of mouth always helps! Let your friends know, we would love to hear everyones feedback!

Thanks for your input! We will send out a campus wide email this week about projects we’ve been working on as well as how to give feedback using this website. Hopefully this increases traffic but if its not effective then we will send out an email just about this website before the end of the semester so that people are aware of it. We post links on our facebook page every once in a while but that has so few followers that I don’t think its very effective.

UPDATE: First, all of these complaints were brought up in detail at several of our USG meetings. We are trying to make the exams at 7:30 so that the evening classes wouldn’t be very interrupted. The exception would be the 6pm to 9pm classes. Overall, it was decided that the benefit of moving exams to four nights a week outweighed the costs. There was a committee formed with students, faculty, and staff to move forward with the proposed common hour exam change. They voted in favor of the change. We will be sure to communicate the progress to the student body, so please comment on our page if you have any suggestions in the future!
    ___________
Thanks for the response! We are glad to see that people are reading our email! During the next USG meeting we will bring up these concerns to the council. Feel free to attend…

If you're not willing to go the extra mile to find out about applying for graduate school, you probably aren't going to get into/do well in graduate school. All of the information you need to know can be found by going to: http://recsports.mines.edu/Graduate_School

Also, this just in, graduate school is now considered a recreational sport.

Thank you for your feedback. The one problem we see with this option is that this could cause a lot of scheduling issues trying to reschedule the exams for such a large amount of people (since a lot of the time it’s a large group of freshman or sophomores that have two exams one night). However, with the current plan any student could still be schedule four nights a week, the only difference now is that it’s one per day instead of two on two days. Since that hardly ever happens we don’t think it’ll be an issue with the new schedule. If you disagree, however, please let us know!

    Love,
    USG

I would like to point out that it is possible for students to go to their instructors and express these grievances with the intent of securing a better time to take an alternate exam. Once students start doing that more often, if this is still a problem, USG could look further into the matter.

This seems like one of the issues that students can start trying to tackle on an individual basis. That would be arguably a more efficient solution than a blanket policy from USG.
