USG has engaged in a conversation with Sodexo and has brought this concern to them. We will update you as the conversation progresses.
If you feel passionately about this topic, make sure to attend the Food Committee Meeting on Friday at 12pm in Mines Market!
Sodexo and the school have after talks with USG opened late night this year. Monday to Thursday Mines Market is now open till 10:00 and serves Pizza and ice-cream.

UPDATE;
We advise that you contact your teacher directly in an effort to get a timeline for when the exam will be returned. It may also be beneficial to contact the department head as they may have information for you. As far as enforcing the two week rule, it is something we have and will continue to look into.Sincerely,
USGWe will have our At Large to the Faculty bring this up at their next faculty meeting and keep you updated on what they say.

USG has engaged in a conversation with Sodexo about the meal exchanges. We are looking into the contract with them to see if we are able to bring them back. We will keep you updated as we work on this.
You can also attend the Food Committee Meeting on Friday at 12pm in Mines Market to voice this concern.
UPDATE
USG has been able to extend hours at Mines Market, but not yet bring back meal exchanges. Thant is something we will continue to work toward for next school year.

Hey!
After many conversations with the Director of the Health Center and Student Life, it has been decided that keeping the Health Center open on the weekends is not feasible. Trading the high level of care and great services students receive during the year for staying open extra days is not an option.
Fortunately, the new Urgent Care Center on Heritage and 6th has quick, friendly service and has reasonable co-pays. It is an ideal option as it is close and open 24/7.
Love,

Here is the quote from the comment on this post from Jack Rosenthal:
“You can change your subscription preferences at mailman.mines.edu, just type in your mymail address and you can get the password for the list preferences emailed to you.
I like changing the lists to digest mode, I get one email per day from each list with a digest from all the posts from that day. Helps keep the inbox clean.
Additionally, you can set up filters through the gmail web interface, simply have it mach all emails with [ugrad] (or whatever list) and dump them in their own folder."
Thanks Jack!
Love,

Hello! After discussing this issue we have decided not to take this on as a project. Mines is a hard school and we just have to deal with it.

UPDATE: We took the concern to faculty senate. Overall, the plus minus system has brought up average GPA. However, we do see how the A- might hurt the students who normally get A’s. Faculty senate has asked us to poll the students to get more information on the issue, so that will be going out in an email soon.
UPDATE
Right now it’s up to the teacher’s discretion whether or not their class has a +/- grading system. When we polled the student body there was not enough interest in making this change. Thank you for your time and if you still have concerns you can try to speak with your professor about it.Sincerely,

This was actually done last year! We hope to have it done this year as well. Who doesn’t like playing with puppies?

The reason we don’t have any of these off is because we use those holidays to get additional days off between Christmas and New years. So to get one of those days off we would lose a separate day.

So this post is old, but we have new info! First, I believe a blinking light was put in to allow pedestrians to cross more easily, so hopefully that helped! However, part of the 6th and 19th crossing planning includes putting a roundabout at the 19th and Elm intersection. This won’t be in construction for another year or so but will probably cause some issues in the future. Just want to let you all know that USG voiced our concerns to the planning committee at the last meeting about 6th and 19th about the pedestrian crossing, but that is all we can do for now!

It is now required for graded work to be returned within two weeks of it being turned in. It’s now posted on all the syllabus!

Hello!
All of the campus wifi has been updated and throughout the year it has been (nearly all done now) pushed through all the buildings. All wifi throughout campus should be improved. If there are any bad spots reach out to any of us and we can relay the information to the CIO. There is also a mines help desk and if you contact them they will also be able to tell where dead spots are to improve them. helpdesk.mines.edu. Hope this helps!
Love,
USG

Yes, this is a huge pain! USG has created Wi-Fi committee to address and solve this problem.James DeBartolomeis is the head of the committee. If you are interested in getting more involved with the WI-FI committee he is available in the USG office (in the back of the student activities office) from 4:00pm – 5:00pm on Wednesdays. He is also available via…

I also agree with the above. This morning there was absolutely no milk. That is never ok. They need to constantly be making sure everything is full and ready to use. The long wait times at stations are also not ok, I have eaten at several other much much larger universities and never waited at a food station for more than 5 minutes, and they are serving more kids than are in our entire school. Get rid of sodexo or step it up they are not meeting the students' needs.
