We looked into this and were told that the costs of having the same programs and software on all computers on campus would require a massive economic investment and thus increase the technology fee by a lot. This is why CCIT chooses to put select software in certain computer labs. However, CCIT created a list with which computer labs have specific software installed and we hope that this helps you.

ummm. solidworks is available to any student anytime for their personal computers and use and free to download on your own computer. look at the CCIT website http://inside.mines.edu/CCIT-Software

A small number of software programs, including Symantec Endpoint antivirus, SolidWorks, Mathematica and MathCAD have been licensed by CCIT and are available for download at no cost to Mines faculty, staff, and students. Visit their indivdual information pages by following the index links above for instructions on downloading and installing.

since when do classrooms belong solely to one department? i have been all over campus in my years here, and even in the same classroom for multiple subjects. don't they all belong to the university as a whole? it is not like my technology fee is just for my department and yours is just for yours....we all chip in together for the good of everyone. sounds like the real problem is that there needs to be more computers with the software we need which should be easily solvable by IT people. who cares what room it is in?
