I received a parking citation today, for being parked in the D lot without a permit. I am not trying to contest the citation, because it is in accordance with current regulations, but rather want to raise the issue of students having to pay for parking in the summer.

I am a PhD student here at Mines, on a stipend. The school does not increase stipends to match inflation. At the highest rate inflation has been in 40 years, I don't think the school should be charging students for parking in the summer, when there isn't the same demand as in the fall or spring semesters. There was a ton of spots open, despite the large number of summer camp parent parking on campus as well.

How do I talk to the school about this?
