Expand Available On-Campus Therapy
Mines talks a lot about how in favor it is of supporting mental health, but a lot of the resources seem to be more fluff than genuinely beneficial. Wellness workshops and 10 minutes in health office hours aren't providing what hurting students need- therapy should be more widely and quickly available for students on campus. Even getting referred to long-term therapy off campus takes months, and follow up is very limited. That's a big problem for people who need someone to talk to.

In progress!

Like Griffin said this is currently being worked on by the current Student Trustee Conall. I know I am running for the position next year and hope to continue his work. It would involve splitting up the student health fee into two fees, one being focused on mental health to make it so the school has to spend money on these types of resources with the end goal being long term therapy options on campus as well as expanded metal heath options as a whole.

Thanks for your beef CJ! Our student representative to the board of the trustees, Conall, is currently working on imposing a fee that would work to bolster the current resources Mines offers. He is in the planning stages and would love to hear your concerns more either through email or his office hours. You can find both at our website: usg.mines.edu
