Mines Student Directory ought to be made students-only, like many other universities.
The Mines student directory is open to the public to search for names, majors, emails, and whatever else you have allowed through trailhead (but at minimum, your name and major). But you cannot be removed from the directory unless you also don't want to walk with your class at graduation, or get involved in anything that requires a confirmation of attendance. The only way to have your information removed from the public eye is for Mines to pretend like you don't exist, which can be detrimental for acquiring scholarships and jobs. Many other large universities require students to log into their accounts to search the student directory, keeping student information away from the public eye. This represents a security risk for students with legitimate reasons to keep their attendance private from the world, and may potentially rob them of future opportunities and the joy of walking at graduation. I propose a small change that would make a big difference: keep the student directory behind a Multipass login. This would still allow students to look up contact information of classmates, track down the owners of lost flash drives, and find out if their major change has gone through, without putting the information of students at risk.
