Don't Extend Paid Parking Until 7:00!
I know there's a lot of complaints about parking on here, but this is a little different. I've heard that Parking Services is going to extend paid parking on campus until 7pm! Anyone who's been on campus after 5pm knows that parking at that time isn't an issue--it's really just from 10am to 3pm. Extending the hours isn't a solution to the parking problems, it's just a way for the school to make more money. In addition, this change makes it even harder for people without parking permits (Mines Park residents, etc.)/with commuter permits to access the gym, library, or after-hours club meetings. But more than anything, it's just unnecessary. USG, help us!

Good afternoon! Thank you for voicing your concern to us! After talking with President Johnson and confirming with Parking Services, we have confirmed that they will not be extending paid parking restricted hours on campus! As verified in the Daily Blast on 9/17/18, parking confirmed this to be true. FEAR NOT MINES, PARKING SHALL REMAIN 7am-5pm Monday-Friday! Let us know if any other concerns should arise! Thank you.

Most students, staff and faculty leave by 5 pm, why extend? The only option I see for doing it is to give out more tickets and collect more money.

Sunset in Colorado is before 7 for most of the school year. I live in Mines Park and I can't buy a parking pass and it's ridiculous to expect me to pay for temporary parking for any amount of time during the day just to feel safe getting home at the end of the day.
Don't take away my security and safety Mines, there's plenty of other things that you've taken, but this is not something anyone should stand for. Can I sue if this causes undesired animal or human encounters on my poorly lit walk home?

For students with night classes, it can already be a little bit scary leaving campus, as the lighting is not the best. Being able to park closer for these classes helps mitigate the issue.

This affects clubs that have local people from the Golden area attend events as well.

I'm speaking for a lot of the student athletes on campus. Extending payed parking would severly impact sports practice. Like many people, I determined which parking pass to purchase based on which lots were general and which lots were commuter. I bought a commuter pass so that I could park in Q lot to go to practice. And of course, after the date we were all told to purchase our parking passes, Mines Parking Services decided to change Q lot to a general lot. The lack of commuter parking is already an issue on this campus and the loss of Q lot worsened the situation. For the athletes with commuter passes who have practice on Stermole after 5pm, the idea of extending payed parking until 7pm is a nightmare.

The parking office is greedy enough already, must be stopped.
