No class on labor day or veterans day
There are only 7 national legal holidays observed nationwide...New Years Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas.
How do we not get Labor Day or Veterans Day off? That's ridiculous. It's unpatriotic.

The reason we don’t have any of these off is because we use those holidays to get additional days off between Christmas and New years. So to get one of those days off we would lose a separate day.

Still, they are national holidays on the order of Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Year's. They should be observed regardless of heating costs or breaks.

The reason we don't get labor day off is because we have fall break. A break early in the semester doesn't provide much relief. And i think the reason we don't get Veterans Day off is because it saves money on heating. They moved that day off into winter break so there are more consecutive days were all of the buildings don't need to be as warm.
