E-Days Concert Lineup
E-Days Concert Lineup
I'd like to suggest a re-selecting and structuring of the E-Days concert lineup to something that more accurately represents the student body and their tastes across genres. Of all of the people I've talked to there aren't many who are all too pleased with the options presented in the Survey.
This year has shown the exclusion of anything with a resemblance to EDM. Electronic music is the concert genre of choice for much of the student body and I'd like to suggest another look at the drawing board of ideas we can afford. This year has two hip-hop artists with a very narrow song selection and who's performances have been seen to lack time after time when performing live.
In summation, I'd like to see the hip hop artists changed to artists who can give solid performances, and I'd like the introduction of an EDM Artist. The homecoming concert was proof that talented performers don't have to cost a ton, there are many options out there better than what we've been presented with.

For Pete's sake, you can say the same thing about a number of other genres. You can't please everyone. I personally have not heard of a single person on the list. Mine's isn't really that well known of a school outside of the STEM community. They aren't going to be able to get any decent artist. Stop your complaining.

But also this platform doesn’t allow for negative votes so like is it a really a fair representation of what the student body feels?

Thank you all for your thoughts. We appreciate them all! MAC and the E-Days committee have fully considered EDM as a popular genre. Luckily E-Days takes place over multiple nights, and as mentioned, the budget for Friday Night Event should allow for an EDM artist. Our intent is to reserve the FNE for an EDM artist instead of leaving it up to a vote. We also feel like the setting is better for that type of music on Friday. We hope this addresses your concerns, and please keep in mind we are doing our best to reach the entire student population throughout the whole weekend. If you have any additional questions or input, please feel free to reach out to MAC at any time.

This serves as a powerful platform that I feel will work better than sending an E-mail to all of MAC. It is to my understanding that USG works to represent the feelings and best interest of students. This post along with the platform chosen gives MAC a quantifiable figure on how myself and the other students who voted favorably feel about the E-Days lineup. MAC has always done a phenomenal job in putting E-Days together and executing every event, but it is my opinion that the artists chosen may have fallen a bit short this year and I'm hoping someone can convince them consider additions to the ballot.

I agree that both EDM fans and fans of actually decent hip-hop were not given an option here. Desiigner and Dram have both proven to put on terrible shows. This leaves us with a country artist and three alternative music artists. While I enjoy both of those genres, I'd like to see an option for another genre of music that many people can dance to and have a good time, and I believe this option was not given to us. This person is not asking for all of E-Days to be revamped, they are asking for the committee to take a closer look at creating a breadth of musical choices for us to choose from, and that is completely fair. It is hard to please everybody, but for several large genres of music to be completely ignored seems like a very terrible decision, and I would like to see this changed.

They're trying to say that EDM fans haven't even been given an option.. so you say there's voting but from what I've heard no one is happy about the lineup... They encouraged the lineup vote changing for better hip hop artists with better performances and an option for an EDM headliner. They don't want everything to change, they just want the option for the campus.
