USG currently gets to set their budget through allocations. While pretty much everybody else was cut this year, they had their budget increased. While I support the safe ride initiative and increase, they increased more than just the safe ride. Additionally, they have ridiculous spending on things. For example, USG PAYS to book the room across from Metals, which is something like 3,000 a year. If any other organization did that, they would have an uproar. Additionally, for allocations other governing bodies are present (BSO, Greek life, international societies, etc.). However, if any of these organizations talk about cutting USG, they are at risk of having their own organization cut so it is a very one sided and unfair process.

Additionally, part of USG funding is in my opinion, ridiculous. There is funding for class activities, which normally turn out to be "burrito day" or something like that which I don't think many students would be happy knowing their money is going towards this. We also don't get to see much progress from USG, especially since they are supposed to be responding to issues on this website.

Overall, I think USG needs a new route for their own allocations to better hold them accountable.
